We can no longer imagine our everyday lives without the internet. Many people in Switzerland use the internet to send emails, to look for information, to make purchases or to handle their banking business. Many fraudsters have therefore chosen the internet as a field of activity because they think they can act anonymously there and can often find big gains with little effort.
Unfortunately the police are discovering increasingly that most internet users often do not have a healthy suspicion on the internet. Information on the internet is too often thoughtlessly considered genuine. A lot of signs that indicate deceit are not heeded because people assume there has been a technical problem. The police also often discover that the users lack minimal technical knowledge about processes on the internet and the internet users can become victims for this reason.
